About the lectures:
Mikolaj Gomolka will delve into Warsaw‘s post-war reconstruction experience following World War II, exploring diverse approaches ranging from meticulous restoration of historic areas to innovative urbanism projects and modernist transformations. He will also examine the political dynamics influencing decision-making processes during this period. Based on the experiences with reconstruction planning in Germany after the second World War and on the experiences with reconstruction approaches for war-damaged old towns in Syria, Christoph Wessling derives 11 theses for post war reconstruction of historic city districts.
